I Have Met the Enemy and He is...

The Hill Cantons, a Proud Affiliate
Early this week I met with my “financial guy”. Running through the various ponzi schemes that may or not save me from eating Alpo at an advanced age (given the collapse of the U.S. defined-benefit pension system), he suddenly exclaims: “oh, here's one you'll like. You are now a proud owner of [X number] shares of the gaming company, Hasbro. They pay great dividends.”

Careful readers will note a change in the editorial policy and content of this blog in the coming months...

  2. There's an idea. How about we get several thousand OSR guys to pool their 401K investments to take over Hasbro?

  3. Yes - I'm sure that the 'bro will be watching... better tow the line!

  5. I do wonder if a collective 'offer' couldn't be put on the table directly to Hasbro to negotiate use of licensed IP or brand names, working around Wizards of the Coast.

  8. @Scottsz
That's actually not a bad serious idea. Better living through shareholder activism.

Completely and utterly off-topic but if people missed Scott's recent "cold-text" article about Tamoachan they should see it here: http://lordofthegreendragons.blogspot.com/

  9. Dear ckutalik,

I would like to complain about the length and complexity of combat in your latest version of 'The Worlds Most Popular Roleplaying Game.' I liked Advanced Heroquest as much as the next guy, but c'mon.

    Sincerely,

  11. So you'll be covering more of their money-making games - like Hungry Hungry Hippos - rather than their money-losing ones? Fine by me.

  12. Thanks Roger, now I'm going to have that damn Hungry Hungry Hippos jingle stuck in my head all day.

  14. Actually Hasbro is one of the best companies out there to invest in. I did my business thesis on it in college. Great stuff really. If I had money, I would be putting money in it too. Remember, they also do all the movies connected to marvel.... so.... every time a new Iron Man, or Avengers movie comes out, your stock price is going up... god i wish i had more cash.

At my job we call it the [insert business name here] Early Retirement Program.

I don't think trying to win money at Russian Roulette is a good plan.
